Jason Brown - Writer’s Block 2003
Writer’s Block is 834 individually printed sheets of card measuring 210mm x 60mm each standing upright in a custom-made box. The traces of ink seen at the edges of the printed cards create the appearance of a pad of A4 lined paper complete with punched holes and a coffee mug ring stain.

The effort and detail seen in the sculpture, resulting in what would appear to be a primary stage of the creative process, examine our idea of the finished article and how daunting an obstacle the blank page can be.

Jason Brown received his BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Falmouth College of Arts in Falmouth, Cornwall. Recent exhibitions include the group shows “Palindrome” at
